Beating their own estimated early 2014 debut timetable, the Indigo Lounge at Bally's Las Vegas is aiming for a soft opening today. Once a popular showroom home to cover bands and most prominently, American Idol winner Taylor Hicks, the space shuttered in October for a makeover as a Victor Drai created lounge, right next door to his own Drai's After Hours nightclub.

Inside, the lounge features a handful of large mounted HDTVs and a variety of seating options, ranging from leather sofas, stools facing thin tables and plush red chairs set around tables. Red side-table lamps and ceiling light shades contrast with the dark and blue tinted interior. The main focal attraction is the rectangular bar in the middle of the room, leaving an initial impression of no viable space for promised "sublime live entertainment." Publicity for the renovation explained the concept intended to "recapture the splendors of a refined Las Vegas evening."

The big surprise is the much lighter toned annex to the lounge, accented by votive candles, white wicker chairs and new foliage. This raised part of the lounge looks out onto the casino floor and is adjacent to video gaming machines.
A curved side entrance leads out to the front door of Drai's After Hours. While Bally's waits to officially announce this debut, information on opening hours, menus and possible entertainment schedules have yet to be released.
And still to come on the other side of Drai's After Hours, the transformation of the Bally's Steakhouse into BLT Steak. Construction has yet to begin on that project.
