UNLVino's Honorees Fuels a Rumor about Morimoto

New, 2 comments

UNLVino, the festival that celebrates wine and raises scholarship money for UNLV hospitality students, released its list of honorees, and one of them has the rumor mill spinning again.

The 39th annual event plans to recognize four hospitality leaders with a Dom Pérignon Award of Excellence during the event April 18-21. Among the honorees, chefs Thomas Keller and Masaharu Morimoto, restaurateur Elizabeth Blau and MGM Grand president and COO Scott Sibella.

The award for Morimoto has insiders speculating that the Iron Chef may announce his restaurant, rumored to be going into the Mirage, when he accepts his award during the Sake Fever event on April 19 at the Mirage.

Keller, who has Bouchon at the Venetian, gets his due during Bubble-Licious at the Venetian on April 18.

Blau, the restauranteur who recently opened Honey Salt with her husband Kim Canteenwalla, will be honored during the Grand Tasting at Paris Las Vegas on April 20.

Sibella, who graduated from UNLV, will be honored during UNLVino's newest event, a barbecue at the Keep Memory Alive Events Center at Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health on April 21.
