The front facade of MGM Grand will be consumed by all things Hakkasan. The resort is pushing forward with City permission to create new signage advertising the future 80,000-square-foot restaurant, lounge and nightclub, to be placed directly behind the 45-foot-tall bronze Leo the lion statue.
Created by the local YESCO sign company, the 7,299-square-foot animated visual "entry feature" in the middle of the wall would be flanked by 2,160-square-feet of two video displays. Behind these signs, the currently under construction wall will be covered by a geometric grillwork design.
During the Paradise Town Board Planning & Zoning approval process, there was temporary confusion concerning the correct pronunciation of "Hakkasan," of which the board ultimately remained uncertain, and when a board member became momentarily perplexed by the number of letter K's, believed the name of the venture as "Kardashian."
