Monta Japanese Noodle House, perhaps the top ramen joint in Las Vegas, was shut down by the Southern Nevada Health District after a routine inspection found 47 demerits on March 12.

Violations included spoiled food, potentially hazardous food stored at improper temperatures and staff not properly washing their hands. Also among the citations, an inadequate number of hand washing sinks and ineffective pest control measures.

Previous inspections going back to 2010 show A and B grades.

The Southern Nevada Health District routinely shuts down restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits. Restaurants have the option of requesting a re-inspection before the next scheduled inspection.
