Who Made the James Beard Foundation Awards Short List?

The James Beard Foundation just announced its finalists for its awards at an event in Charleston, S.C.

In Vegas, Jaleo at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas is a finalist for Outstanding Design, 76 Seats and Over. Piero Selvaggio is a finalist for Outstanding Restaurateur with his Valentino Restaurant Group, although the nomination is for his Los Angeles restaurant, not his spot at the Venetian that is closing in June. The wine program at Picasso at the Bellagio also made the finalist list for Outstanding Wine Service.

Other contenders on the long list that did not make the cut include Julian Serrano, Picasso at Bellagio for Outstanding Chef; Nicole Grimes, Rao's at Caesars Palace for the Rising Star Chef of the Year, and Mitsuo Endo, Aburiya Raku for Best Chef West.
