Rincon Criollo, the Cuban restaurant at 1145 Las Vegas Blvd. S., was shut down by the Southern Nevada Health District after a routine inspection on March 15.
Inspectors found 42 demerits during the visit. Some of the violations included spoiled food, food unprotected from potential contamination and an inadequate number of hand-washing facilities. This is the first time since 1996 that SNHD has shut down the restaurant.
Also shut down on March 15, the ware washing area of the Golden Nugget Buffet. Inspectors found a pest infestation, calling for the immediate closure of the area.
Back in December, SNHD shut down five locations at the Golden Nugget — including the employee dining room, Lillie's Asian Cuisine, the Carson St. Cafe, a pantry and a service bar — for a cockroach infestation.
The Southern Nevada Health District routinely shuts down restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits. Restaurants have the option of requesting a re-inspection before the next scheduled inspection.
