A one-month renovation of Cañonita in the Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian reveals an updated bar, patio and dining room. Inside find orange umbrellas and patina turquoise walls. The idea here was to showcase the vibrant scene in Mexico City with a patio featuring festoon lighting, street umbrellas and a new archway framing the space. Here diners can do some people watching and spy on the gondoliers.
The lounge now features additional flat screen TVs, high-top communal seating and a new bar with shaved ice, botanicals, beer on tap and 60 tequilas. Eight types of margaritas make the menu. Highlights include The Cañonita made with Patron Silver and Grand Marnier and The Fresca, a margarita infused with mango, strawberry, cactus, watermelon, raspberry or blackberry. Other new cocktails include the Coco Pina with Bacardi Light Rum, coconut milk and pineapple juice served in a coconut shell, or the Speedy Gonzalez made with Stoli Ohranj vodka, Agavero Tequila Liqueur and Red Bull.
