Seems Vegas now has a restaurant that specializes in Yucatecan specialities. Meet Chicken Itza, the new Mayan restaurant on North Jones Boulevard. While the joint serves up dishes typical of Mexican fare such as tacos, burritos, quesadillas, tortas, nachos and enchiladas, look to the panuchos (black-bean filled tortas) and salbutes (crisp handheld tortillas topped with shredded turkey, avocado, pickled onions and cabbage or lettuce), regional Yucatecan specialities. Nearly every dish covers with pink pickled onions, a staple of the Yucatecan diet.
The most expensive item on the menu, the steak nachos, rings in at $7.99, and most dishes cost around $5.
The restaurant is decked out in bright orange paint, with Mayan Riviera-themed artwork and large, colorful wooden chairs.
The restaurant is open Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
