The Monte's Pizza location at 5585 Simmons St. in North Las Vegas was shut down by the Southern Nevada Health District on March 20 with 42 demerits.
During the routine inspection, SNHD found spoiled food, ineffective pest controls and food unprotected from contamination, although adding up the demerits, it appears the restaurant only received 23.
The restaurant was last inspected last August and received an A grade with 10 demerits.
The Southern Nevada Health District routinely shuts down restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits. Restaurants have the option of requesting a re-inspection before the next scheduled inspection.
