Apparently the new Park on Fremont decided to soft open last night, kicking off the festivities with a little barb at local food critic John Curtas. Outside the 5,000-square-foot "gastropub," the staff set out a chalkboard quoting Curtas: "Come try the food that John Curtas described as 'Imaginative as a 10 year old.'"
True, Curtas did write on Facebook, "It (the menu at "Park on Fremont") couldn't be less imaginative if it was thought up by a 10 year old," as well as "Park on Fremont had the velvet ropes out, and was hand-stamping people at 6:00pm — even though the place was empty."
He does admit that he will keep an open mind when he tries the food there.
The menu includes corned beef reuben, a Philly mac and cheese steak, stuffed burgers, fried chicken and waffle sandwich, grilled cheese on brioche, hammered chicken, chicken bar bites, very veggie sliders and more.
