Dining, and lounging for that matter, just took a huge step forward at McCarran International Airport with the opening of the Centurion Lounge. The new private lounge offers up a three-meal menus, cocktails and more near Gate D4.
None other than Scott Conant, the chef behind Scarpetta and D.O.C.G. Enoteca at Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, is behind the menu here, giving a significant boost to the food available at McCarran. Look for buffet-style breakfast, lunch and dinner with dishes such as polenta waffles with pumpkin compote, a zucchini, parmesan and herb frittata and chicken sausage roasted with potatoes and shallots for breakfast and baked cavatelli with fontina and roast chicken with baby potatoes, shallots and rosemary for lunch and dinner. Even Conant's salted caramel budino makes the menu.
Jim Meehan — who is a contributing editor of Food & Wine, the deputy editor of Food & Wine's annual cocktail guide, and the author of the PDT Cocktail Book, a bartender's guide from his lounge PDT in the East Village — put together the cocktail menu, while Anthony Giglio created the wine list.
But wait. Before you go booking a flight and plan to just stop by this lounge know that you have to be an American Express card member. Even then, without an invitation, entrance will set you back $50. So far, the lounge does not offer memberships or advance purchase.
The lounge offers more than just food and cocktails with the only shower suite at McCarran, along with a dedicated space for children with books, video games, movies and toys and a first come conference room. Business services are also available.
The lounge is open daily from 5 a.m. to midnight.
