After an initial flurry of activity, first reported by Eater Vegas last year, the fourth Firefly restaurant is looking much more likely to open this summer. The popular tapas destination signed a five-year, $1,869,487 lease on the former Z-Tejas and Mr. B's Bar & Grill space at 3824 Paradise Road. Mr. B's had only been operating for six months before closing in 2012. Firefly hopes to break the shutter curse with a healthy emphasis on outdoor dining.
The 2,074 exterior remodel has a publicly announced $179,688 budget. The Aptus Group, designers of the space, included mention of the summer opening on their Facebook page. They also explained they used a "rich but simple material palette" to compliment the Firefly brand.
The exterior will be the key asset to this location. In addition to an 11,400-square-foot interior, a total of 2,000 square feet has been allocated for outside dining. The patio areas will be covered by vibrant fabric awnings propped up by 14-foot columns. These supports will be connected to a metal trellis.
A new outdoor V.I.P. seating area is being created the southwest side, made more private by 13 foot walls. Most of the existing shrubs and trees will be replaced with smaller shrubs and planter boxes.
Firefly also has locations on Sahara Avenue and Eastern Avenue in Henderson. This forthcoming project is only a few hundred feet from their existing 3900 Paradise Road restaurant. Last September the company was planning to turn the original Paradise location into a new dining concept.
