Take a Look at the Margarita Inspiration at La Comida

Here's a look at the drinks La Comida plans to serve when it opens in mid-April. Jenna and Michael Morton are opening the Mexican restaurant in a former laundry facility for El Cortez.

Michael Morton says the margarita menu was inspired by a dinner in Cabo San Lucas. The bartender that fateful night used a tamarind plucked from a tree as the key ingredient in the margarita. La Comida plans to use fresh fruit purees made from guava, prickly pear, passion fruit, pomegranate, tamarind, mint leaves, lime, basil and tajin spice doused with tequila.

Also of note, the tequila menu, which so far is described as longer than the 80 seats in the dining room, 15 at the bar and 24 on the patio. Some of the teased brands include Cabrito, El Tesoro, Milagro and Partida. Look for them to be served at the zinc-top bar that sits next to a Dutch door.
