SNHD Shuts Down Sumo Japanese with 47 Demerits

Sumo Japanese Restaurant at 2861 N. Green Valley Pkwy. in Henderson found itself in the crosshairs of the Southern Nevada Health District after a routine inspection on Monday uncovered 47 demerits.

SNHD found commercially manufactured food from unapproved sources, a lack of hot and cold water from an approved source, spoiled food and more during the inspection.

This is the first time the restaurant has been shut down by SNHD.

The Southern Nevada Health District routinely shuts down restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits. Restaurants have the option of requesting a re-inspection before the next scheduled inspection.
