Back in March shouty chef Gordon Ramsay said he could out-cook Bobby Flay in a profile for Men's Journal. "I can still look at a box of raw ingredients and put together the best fucking dish you'll ever eat. That's why I laugh when they say, "Let's see if he's a real chef. Let's get him up against Bobby Flay on Iron Chef." I'm like, "Fucking do me a favor...come on. I've forgotten more than he's known!"

At the time, Flay challenged Ramsay via Twitter, saying, "@gordonramsay01...disappointed but noted. Let's settle this like men, in the kitchen! No words, just knives. Show up or shut up."

On the red carpet at the Grand Tasting at Vegas Uncork'd, Flay tells Eater Vegas that he doesn't think a throwdown between the two will happen.

"It was mostly in good fun. He said something about me in a magazine. I thought it was a little bit of a cheap shot. I just went back to him and said, 'Let's do something good. Let's not make something dumb and negative out of this. Let's do something positive.'

"My thought was since we're both in Caesars Palace and Caesars Palace is home of the great heavyweight boxing matches. Why don't we create some kind of kitchen stadium outside on the Strip in front of Caesars Palace, get some sponsors and Caesars to put up a bunch of money winner takes all to their favorite charity? It would be great. I think the Iron Chef people reached out to Gordon and he wasn't interested. It's all right. He's got his own thing going on."

Ramsay, who also walked the red carpet, did not do any interviews with the media.

Flay also talked about his Bobby's Burger Palace opening at Crystals.

"We have 14 Burger Palaces now. Most of the are clustered in the Northeast. We have one in Cincinnati, which is the only one we have to get on a plane for. This makes perfect sense. First of all, this is Las Vegas. They're starved for good cuisine at every level," he says.

Flay, who already has Mesa Grill at Caesars Palace, says the restaurant with its inexpensive burgers should be open by the end of the year.
