6 Ways to Eat and Drink Through the Kentucky Derby

It's dubbed the fastest two minutes in sports. On Saturday, the 139th running of the Kentucky Derby takes place, and bars and restaurant celebrate the race with specials on mint juleps and food. Here's a look at six ways to eat and drink your way through the Kentucky Derby.

Commonwealth

The Deal: Commonwealth's Kentucky Derby celebration includes a tip of the hat to the Race for Cure run the same day. Ticket proceeds from the event will be donated to the Southern Nevada affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Guests receive a free drink ticket and a betting ticket placed on a random horse upon entry. Winning tickets can be redeemed at El Cortez. The marching band from UNLV will provide a traditional soundtrack. Moët Hennessy sponsors this event that includes live music, complimentary hors d'oeuvres and specialty cocktails featuring Moët & Chandon Imperial BTG, Belvedere Lemon Tea and a Prescription Julep created with rye whiskey and Hennessy V.S. Tickets, available here, are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.

Fiesta Room

The Deal: Watch the Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby May 3-4 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and land $1 hot dogs, $2 Budweiser drafts and $2 mint juleps. Additionally, El Cortez will be offering Derby glasses with a wager of at least $20 and Derby shirts with wagers of at least $50. The betting terminal for the event will be located in front of The Fiesta Room.
