A new shake shop plans to shake things up just as the weather turns hot, hot, hot. Now comes word that For Goodness Shake is opening an 1,100-square-foot shake shop at 4220 S. Grand Canyon Drive sometime in June.

Look for healthy smoothies, shaved ice and, of course, milkshakes with a twist — a plan to make a difference in the community.

First the menu, which includes a Create Your Own Milkshake option at the blending bar. Diners start by choosing a non-fat yogurt base in milk or lactose free options, then select from more than 40 toppings including chocolate bars, candy, cookies, fruit and more.

Some of the options already on the menu include the Kid in a Candy Store, a chocolaty treat mixed with Snickers, M&M's, Kit Kat and Twix candies. The smoothie menu features blends of seasonal fruit such as the freshly squeezed orange juice-based Orange Creamsicle and Feelin' Fuzzy, a mix of peaches, strawberries, passion fruit and apple juice.

Now to the community side of the restaurant. With the purchase of any item on the menu, a donation will be made to provide a meal for a child in need through Three Square Food Bank. Owner Manny Vargas says he was inspired by the TOMS shoe model, where every purchase of the shoes donates a pair to a needy child.

Look for a late June opening. In the meantime, follow For Goodness Shake on Twitter and Facebook.
