Official word came out this morning. Buddy Valastro, the star behind the TLC series Cake Boss will open his first Vegas restaurant this fall in the former home of First Food & Bar at the Palazzo. Über restaurateur couple Elizabeth Blau and Kim Canteenwalla, who already have Honey Salt, are partnering with Valastro on Buddy V's, serving Italian-American food inspired by Valastro's family gatherings and the recipes passed down by his mother, grandmother and aunts.
Buddy V's marks Valastro's first venture in the restaurant world; he already has Carlo's Bakery in Hoboken, N.J., where he is the head baker and Cake Boss is filmed as well as locations in Times Square and Ridgewood, N.J.
"People always just think of me as a baker, but beyond the bakery, food has always been at the center of my family's life," Valastro says in a press release.
Already some of the menu has been revealed, including Sunday gravy, steak pizzaiola and Lisa's linguine and clams with lobster. Of course, no Valastro restaurant would be complete without his desserts. Look for Zeppole, cannolis and his infamous lobster tail pastry.
The 11,000-square-foot restaurant will be designed by New York-based Celano Design.
