Firefly Tapas Kitchen & Bar
Address: 3824 Paradise Road
Phone: 702-369-3971
Status: Opening at 4 p.m.
Firefly Tapas Kitchen & Bar's closure on Paradise Road after a salmonella outbreak affected 294 patrons and employees didn't last long. Tonight, the restaurant opens, only in a new location practically steps away from the original. The restaurant takes over the former Mr. B's Bar & Grill space at 3824 Paradise Road.
The Southern Nevada Health District shut down the original Firefly after patrons complained of a food borne illness. An inspection on April 26 found 44 demerits at the location, and an investigation found that cooked chorizo was the source, although not the cause, of the salmonella outbreak.
The company spent $179,688 to remodel the exterior with a "rich but simple material palette" to complement the Firefly brand. An 11,400-square-foot interior also features a 2,000-square-foot patio with vibrant fabric awnings propped up by 14-foot columns. These supports will be connected to a metal trellis.
A new outdoor VIP seating area was created the southwest side, made more private by 13 foot walls. Most of the existing shrubs and trees will be replaced with smaller shrubs and planter boxes.
Firefly's Facebook page announces that the restaurant will be open from 4 p.m. to "after midnight."
