MONTE CARLO — Andre's Restaurant & Lounge has La Joie du Vin on Friday, June 7, with a welcome reception at 6:30 p.m followed by dinner service at 7 p.m. Chef de cuisine Chris Bulen has a five-course menu featuring rhubarb. Look for Skookum oysters featuring rhubarb granite and caviar paired with a bubbly Nicholas Feuillate Brut. The appetizer course continues with a dish of fresh rhubarb, cucumber, kumquat, Crater Lake blue cheese and toasted pistachios served alongside 2011 Antinori Vermentino from Tuscany. The main course will include a rhubarb glazed Iberico de Bellota pork cheek with celery root purée and heirloom carrots, complemented by 2010 Erath Pinot Noir; Mary's free-range pan-seared duck breast served with pickled rhubarb, cornbread stuffing, Swiss chard and rhubarb duck jus paired with 2009 Spring Valley Vineyards "Uriah" Walla Walla. Pastry chef Tammy Alana created a strawberry rhubarb Linzertorte, a lattice topped pastry filled with fresh strawberry and rhubarb and a lemon verbena crème fraîche ice cream paired with Château Ste. SPRINGS PRESERVE — The Blues & Brews Festival returns Saturday, June 1, from 4 to 8 p.m. with beers from Great Basin, North Coast, Tommyknockers, Speakeasy, Firestone Walker, New Belgium, Dogfish Head, Big Dogs, Chicago Brewing Co., Joseph James, Triple 7 Brewpub, Tenaya Creek, Coronado, Sierra Nevada, Innis & Gunn, Moa Brewing, Asahi and more. Food vendors will be announced closer to the event. Tickets are $35 in advance, tickets will be sold at the door on the day of the event for $40.
