Hyakumi, the Japanese restaurant and sushi bar at Caesars Palace, has finally shuttered without fanfare. Two signs inform disappointed diners, "Temptation meets anticipation. A new restaurant is coming." Calls to Caesars' guest services confirmed the closing. All mention of Hyakumi has already been purged from the corporate Website.
Their menu of sushi and Teppanyaki-style cooking could never hope to survive once culinary rival Nobu Restaurant and Lounge opened within earshot and steps away from the Hyakumi front entrance.
Since Feb. 1, the restaurant had been reduced to solely offering lunch service. Nobu Restaurant & Lounge currently offers a lunch menu only on Saturdays and Sundays. Hyakumi has been in operation since 1998, its name derived from the Japanese for "100 tastes."
