Where Jennifer Camacho Dines for Brunch on Days Off

New, 7 comments

Sin City is home to a lot of restaurants and bars, but there are tons of hidden gems that the majority of Las Vegans aren't unearthing. To help guide us to these potential discoveries, we've enlisted some of our city's food players to share their recommendations for a weekly feature dubbed Dining Confidential. Know a chef who wants to share some top dining spots? The tipline is open.

Jennifer Camacho has been in the restaurant industry since she was 14. Now she stakes her claim as the wine manager for Fleming's Steakhouse & Wine Bar. Just recently, she helped launched Fleming's WiNEPAD with more than 200 wines and 100 wines by the glass. She was recognized and selected for a special trip to Napa Valley by Fleming's president Skip Fox.  In her spare time, she actively volunteers with The Boys and Girls Club of Las Vegas and Cystic Fibrosis Nevada Chapter. Here Camacho shares her favorite places to dine when she's not recommending wines at Fleming's.

Where do you enjoy eating when you're not working at Fleming's?
Like most of my colleagues in the restaurant business, my evenings are often tied up, but I love to indulge in brunch, so I usually dine out then. You can often catch me brunching with friends and family DW Bistro and Honey Salt on weekend afternoons.

What dishes are most memorable?
At DW Bistro, how can you go wrong with bottomless mimosas or the bloody Mary bar? When I'm at DW Bistro, I always order any one of my three favorite dishes. The Chilaquiles because the lime-infused sour cream, avocado tomatillo sauce and queso fresco just take it over the top! Jerk-fried chicken and waffles are such a unique and indulgent dish. The sweetness of the maple syrup on top of the spicy fried chicken and crispy waffles get me every time. And the sprinkle of orange zest brightens up the whole dish so nicely. But I'd have to say that my absolute favorite dish there is the lobster eggs Benedict with house made Hollandaise and jalapeño bacon. So YUM!

At Honey Salt I love the bananas Foster French toast with caramelized bananas and whipped cream. Delish!

Why do you enjoy going there?
At DW Bistro, I enjoy the hospitality that the owners Bryce and Dalton show to their guests. We try to achieve the same thing at Fleming's so I know how much effort and care it takes. The two of them are always welcoming guests as soon as they walk in. Between their great service and attention to detail, I always have a positive dining experience. And, being a manager, that means everything.  ??

At Honey Salt, it's the farm-to-table menu and hand crafted cocktails that really make the difference. They also have done a great job at creating a comfortable and stylish atmosphere that's not over the top. It's just a joy to be in there.

I love food and wine, and that's mainly why I chose this profession. Being a part of the Fleming's team but also a part of this amazing Las Vegas dining scene allows me to fully realize my love and passion for fine wines and dining. I think that like these other restaurants I've spoken about, we share the same care for our customer and quality of food at Fleming's. If you happen to be in the Summerlin area, swing by and say hi? and maybe try out our new spirit selections. ?(Just a tip: My favorite is the Moscow Mule served with a side of ginger beer)
