Mac Shack, the Spring Valley macaroni joint, has found a second home on the west side. The counter service restaurant will create room for 78 guests with booths, table seating and a provision for take-out.

The 2,825-square-foot expansion will take over a former men's tailor shop in a strip mall on the corner of Fort Apache and Charleston. Fellow tenants include Claim Jumper and a Whole Foods Market.

Mac Shack's sales gimmick allows guests to choose all the elements to build their own pasta dish, first picking their style of pasta, then the sauce and finally adding toppings. Pre-designed dishes on the menu include the Crazy Alfredo with chicken, sausage and shrimp and an Asaigo Blue Mac.

They are planning to open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. from Sunday to Thursday and extend until 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. A report back in February 2012 suggested Mac Shack was looking to extend their chain to four Las Vegas locations.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal staff voted Mack Shack as the 2013 "Best Meal for Less Than $10" in their annual Best of Las Vegas awards. Their readers picked Capriotti's Sandwich Shop.
