The Southern Nevada Health District shut down the Clarion Restaurant at 305 Convention Center Drive on June 11 after a re-inspection found 30 demerits. SNHD initially inspected the restaurant on May 7 and found 27 demerits, a C grade.
During the re-inspection, SNHD found the staff wasn't properly washing their hands properly, spoiled food, food unprotected from contamination and more.
Inspections going back to 2010 show a pattern of lower grades followed by re-inspections to upgrade to an A. This is the first time the restaurant has been shut down by SNHD.
The Southern Nevada Health District routinely shuts down restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits. Restaurants have the option of requesting a re-inspection before the next scheduled inspection.
