The rumor mill rumbled with news that French chef Alain Ducasse, who now calls Monaco his native country, may be on the verge of announcing his second restaurant in Vegas. Sources says Ducasse is working on something called Chef's Table, rumored to go into Crystals, the chichi shopping center in front of Aria.
The restaurant is said to be sort of like Eataly, the gourmet Italian market and eatery from Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich in New York, a concept Batali has repeatedly said he wants to bring to Vegas.
A publicist for Ducasse said, "As for the Crystals rumor, we haven't heard anything but we are checking with the Ducasse team for more information."
Ducasse already has Mix at Mandalay Bay in Vegas, as well as more than 20 restaurants worldwide. Presumably Chef's Table would follow an Eataly footprint of food tastings within a grocery store setting.
Crystals, the two-story shopping mecca that houses brands such as Tom Ford, Lanvin, Prada and the fifth largest Louis Vuitton store in the world, is on the market.
