So long, George Jetson-inspired Ghostbar. Now comes word the bar on the 55th floor of the Ivory Tower at the Palms will close the doors July 7 in order to undergo a remodel, set to debut in mid-August.
Helming the renovations, Klai Juba Architects, which already remodeled the Ivory Tower rooms and suites as part of the $50 million renovations at the resort. They plan to make Ghostbar more elegant and feminine using a palette of whites, blacks and fuchsias. Expect to see "Murano-style" chandeliers, described as "sparkling" in a press release, banquettes with wood-carved legs and a porcelain tile floor with Brinton carpets. Other new touches include a fireplace filled with candles.
The patio will be framed with Boxwood hedges, custom white banquettes and built-in planters.
The lounge plans to open early for cocktails yet retain that nightlife vibe with "music spun by live DJs spining a mix of top 40 hits from a damask-patterned acrylic booth that sports a fuchsia-glow backlight and bottle service."
When complete, the space will have room for 350 standing. From the sounds of it, the Palms seems to want Ghostbar to become an events space for corporate meetings, weddings and special events. No word on whether Ghostbar gets a name change as well.
