Here's a restaurant that takes the spot of the most demerits from the Southern Nevada Health District so far this year. Golden Gate Chinese Restaurant at 1654 W. Warm Springs Road, Henderson, landed 54 demerits from SNHD after a routine inspection on June 3.
Among the violations: staff wasn't washing their hands, food was unprotected from potential contamination from chemicals, during storage and from the staff, ineffective pest control measures, reusing single-use items and more.
This is Golden Gate's first major run-in with SNHD. The worst grade it received was a B in 2011.
The Southern Nevada Health District routinely shuts down restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits. Restaurants have the option of requesting a re-inspection before the next scheduled inspection.
