It's been quiet on the Golden Corral front since Eater Vegas first broke the news the buffet chain was finally coming to Las Vegas. Despite persistent TV commercials promoting the company, until this year, the closest location was in Kingman, Ariz., just over 100 miles away.
But there is finally movement on the 11,088-square-foot restaurant, to be built next to an east side Home Depot. Plans dating all the way back to July 2012 indicate the company has battled construction issues with water, sewer systems and geology in their attempt to build on a previously vacant lot. The Vegas project now has a publicly allotted budget of $1,172,000.
The company began hiring for senior staff back on April 5 and is still looking for restaurant managers. The far from the Strip, the location is near Charleston Boulevard and Lamb Boulevard, across the street from a Walmart Neighborhood Market.
Three months ago, the company believed the buffet would open "in early fall."
