Morimoto Headlines the JBF's National Tour Stop in Vegas

The James Beard Foundation is taking its show on the road this fall with a stop in Las Vegas. Taste America: Local Flavor from Coast To Coast, brings a national traveling food festival to 10 cities including Vegas. The event on Friday, Sept. 27, and Saturday, Sept. 28 features free culinary events and ends with a dining event at the Mirage.

Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto, who is opening Morimoto at the Mirage next year, and Mirage chef Christian Schmidt host the poolside dining event, which will feature chefs such as Saipin Chutima of Lotus of Siam, Eric Klein of Spago, Brian Massie from The Light Group and Laurent Tourondel of BLT Burger.

Also on Saturday, Sur La Table at Fashion Show mall has in-store chef appearances, cooking demonstrations, tastings from local artisans and producers and a special cooking demonstration and book signing with Morimoto at 2 p.m.

A Taste America Vehicle plans to make stops at local farmers markets and various locations throughout the weekend to promote healthy, sustainable practices with tastings and demos from participating chefs.

Tickets are already on sale at jbftasteamerica.org, and are priced at $120 per person, all-inclusive. VIP tickets are also available for $250, which include access to the official after-party at 1OAK Nightclub at the Mirage. The James Beard Foundation will donate a portion of the evening's proceeds to The Epicurean Charitable Foundation.
