Seems recent comments by José Andrés are rankling fellow Spaniard Julian Serrano.
Andrés, asked about Serrano, says he taught him the Spanish tapas trade. "I find out when I opened here that Julian Serrano finally left his French side and decided to open (a tapas restaurant)," Andrés tells the Las Vegas Review-Journal. "Funny, Julian Serrano used to be a sous-chef of mine. He worked for me for many years. In Washington, he was a sous-chef."
Serrano got hot under the collar when he heard that. "I never did, never want to and never will. Never, never, never. That's absolute (expletive)," Serrano replied.
Andrés has Jaleo and China Poblano at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas while Serrano has Picasso at the Bellagio and his eponymous tapas restaurant at Aria.
