Tintoretto Pasticceria at the Grand Canal Shoppes at the Palazzo was shut down by the Southern Nevada Health District on July 30 after a re-inspection unveiled 17 demerits.
SNHD inspectors originally visited the restaurant on July 15 and gave Tintoretto Pasticceria a C grade with 32 demerits. Violations during the re-inspection included food unprotected from potential contamination by employees, consumers and during storage and preparation along with potentially hazardous foods held at an improper temperature.
Last September, the restaurant earned a C grade with 39 demerits. Other inspections reveal a hodgepodge of grades ranging from Bs and Cs upgraded to an A after re-inspection.
The Southern Nevada Health District routinely shuts down restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits. Restaurants have the option of requesting a re-inspection before the next scheduled inspection.
