Morimoto Taking Over Japonais in Chicago, Sign of What's to Come in Vegas?

Here's an interesting twist in the Masaharu Morimoto empire. True, he's already announced his restaurant coming to the Mirage in 2014. And true it is taking over the Japonais space.

Now comes word that Morimoto of Iron Chef fame is helming the kitchen of Japonais in Chicago and changing the name to Japonais by Morimoto. Could this be a sign for what's really to come at the Mirage?

Eater Chicago reports the 10-year-old Japonais will get a makeover, closing at the end of the year to reopen with a sushi bar, open kitchen and new first-floor bar for Japanese vodkas and whiskeys by mid-winter. The menu will include faves from his coast-to-coast empire.

Stay tuned.
