It will take $5,690,595 to improve on the shuttered and much missed Lion Habitat attraction at the MGM Grand. That's the publicly posted valuation on the new casino floor sports bar being constructed behind a huge blank plywood wall. It sits adjacent to the current poker lounge and steps from the entrance to Hakkasan.
Rumored to be a Las Vegas version of MGM Grand Detroit's well established sports bar TAP, the Michigan incarnation includes comfort food, dozens of beer options and plentiful HDTVs.
Here, the 7,196-square-foot space that used to house the lions will add on the 1,412-square feet of the Habitat's gift shop, creating a 9,108-square-foot libation rival to the Centrifuge Bar that resides across the hall. The substantial project will be able to host 338 visitors. Early plans include matching the faux wood beam design of its Detroit inspiration and adding a wood grill.
