Tom Colicchio's Heritage Steak
Address: Mirage, 3400 Las Vegas Blvd. S.
Status: Opens at 5 p.m.
Top Chef judge Tom Colicchio starts playing with fire in all new ways when Tom Colicchio's Heritage Steak opens tonight at the Mirage. The 230-seat restaurant flame broils its meats over open flames in wood-burning ovens and charcoal grills.
Celebrity has a price. Look for dishes such as braised short ribs for $40, spice-roasted lobster for $52 and a smoke-fried chicken for $36. Steaks here include a New York strip for $45, ribeye for $49 and a whole section of the menu dubbed Heritage Steaks features a Brandt bone-in ribeye for $58, Painted Hills New York strip for $52, American Kobe skirt for $45 and natural prime filet for $55. The Mirage Website touts an $85 per person check price at Colicchio's third Vegas restaurant.
Anthony Zappola, a long-time Colicchio chef, is on board at the executive chef.
The 8,163-square-foot underwent a multimillion dollar makeover, taking over the Kokomo's space at the front of the Mirage. Expect to find a lounge area with a 20-stool bar and a main dining area hidden behind atrium foliage. Walnuts, bronzes, coppers and blackened steel decorate the space.
Amanda Weil was tapped for the art.
