The $1.95 million makeover the former Tabú Ultra Lounge is complete and in its place the new Whiskey Down, a high-end gaming lounge on the casino floor at the MGM Grand. Instead of a late-night opening, this 7,782-square foot space plans to keep revelers drinking 24 hours a day.
Inside find six blackjack tables, seven video-poker machines at the bar and seating for up to 64 guests.
Naturally, as the name infers, the bar will focus on whiskeys from the United States, Canada, Ireland and Scotland. Specialty cocktails centered around the brown liquor highlight the menu.
Look for an Aug. 28 opening. Tabú closed April 6.
