Island Malaysian Cuisine at 5115 Spring Mountain Road was shut down by the Southern Nevada Health District after a routine inspection found a whopping 47 demerits on Aug. 15.
Inspectors found spoiled food, improperly cooled foods, food held at the wrong temperature and more. The restaurant received A's for its previous two inspections.
Bread & Butter landed 38 demerits, three away from shutdown, after a routine inspection on Aug. 14. Inspectors found spoiled food, staff improperly washing their hands and more. The restaurant has had a bumpy ride with SNHD in the past, earning C grades upgraded to A's following a re-inspection. It last earned a 38 demerit C in March that was upgraded nearly two weeks later.
The Southern Nevada Health District routinely shuts down restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits. Restaurants have the option of requesting a re-inspection before the next scheduled inspection.
