October gets a little busier with food events with Taste of the Nation, the culinary benefit for Share Our Strength. This year, the event makes a change of seasons, coming to Rain Nightclub at the Palms on Thursday, Oct. 17 from 7 to 9 p.m. with a VIP reception beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Look for more than 35 of the city's chefs and restaurants, including chef Carlos Guia of The Country Club – A New American Steakhouse at Wynn Las Vegas, who serves as the restaurant chairman for Taste of the Nation Las Vegas. Other participating restaurants already on the roster include: Fleur by Hubert Keller and Border Grill at Mandalay Bay, Tao and Lavo at the Venetian and Palazzo, Andrea's at Encore Las Vegas, Lakeside at Wynn Las Vegas, STK at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas and Sushi Roku at the Forum Shops at Caesars.
The event includes a silent auction as well as a live auction hosted by an undisclosed local celebrity.
VIPs can get early access, a gift bag and sneak peak at the silent auction.
Area charities that will benefit from this year's event include Three Square Food Bank, Catholic Charities of Las Vegas and UNCE Chefs for Kids and Project MANA. Taste of the Nation has raised almost $1.1 million in Las Vegas alone since 1988.
Tickets for Taste of the Nation are $100 for general admission and $125 for VIP and can be purchased by calling 1-877-26-TASTE or visiting TasteOfTheNation.org.
