KJ Dim Sum & Seafood, the Chinese restaurant at the Rio, came within two points of shutdown by the Southern Nevada Health District after a routine inspection on July 30.
SNHD inspectors handed the restaurant 39 demerits for violations that included a lack of hand washing, commercially manufactured food from an unapproved source, food unprotected from potential contamination and an inadequate number of hand washing sinks.
The Southern Nevada Health District routinely shuts down restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits. Restaurants have the option of requesting a re-inspection before the next scheduled inspection.
