La Reina Mexican Food & Bakery at 1600 N. Jones Blvd. was shut down by the Southern Nevada Health District after a routine inspection on Aug. 5 uncovered 44 demerits.
SNHD inspectors found that the restaurant had no hot and cold running water, potentially hazardous food was not properly cooled and not held at the proper temperature during storage, staff didn't properly wash their hands and more.
The restaurant and bakery last received a C grade following an inspection last December that was upgraded to an A nine days later.
The Southern Nevada Health District routinely shuts down restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits. Restaurants have the option of requesting a re-inspection before the next scheduled inspection.
