In a surprising switcheroo, Maru Korean BBQ & Sushi at Village Center Circle is readying to become Sagos Prime and changeover to an American steak and seafood menu.
The proposal from Jason Godfrey would transform the existing 6,725-square-foot building into an "upscale" restaurant and tavern featuring a 400-square-foot outdoor patio. The 100-seat interior dining room will also include a separate banquet and private dining area. A central, 900-square-foot "elegant" rectangular bar will be outfitted with 15 bartop video gaming machines.
The menu overhaul will become North American focused, serving USDA prime steak and seafood and a range of handcrafted cocktails. Alongside a full sushi bar, Maru served Korean-style barbecue, bulgogi, banchan and bibimbap.
No shuttering date for Maru has been announced. Godfrey also oversees the Sagos Baja Tavern Lounge in Spring Valley.
