"Desserts this amazing should never have to share the spotlight with a full dinner," says Al Mancini, who admits he doesn't have much of a sweet tooth but heads to the new Sweets Raku anyway. "All it takes is one visit to understand why [Raku owner Mitsuo] Endo is considered one of Las Vegas' most innovative restaurateurs." [CL]
Brock Radke calls the dim sum at Hakkasan at the MGM Grand "more than just the best dim sum in the city, it absolutely shames all competitors." Other go-tos include anything with duck, and stellar examples of Chinese staples including Mongolian beef, egg and scallion fried rice and hot and sour soup with chicken. [LVW]
Heidi Knapp Rinella again goes for the easiest steak not to screw up with a filet mignon at Joe Vicari's Andiamo Steakhouse at the D Las Vegas. (Seriously, it's pretty tough to mess up a filet mignon. The restaurant has a Tomahawk steak that's their signature on the menu ad probably a smarter choice to review.) While she doesn't even mention how it tastes, she is upset that her waiter forgot the Andiamo Signature Zip Sauce, and when he apologized and brought it, she was disappointed that it wasn't zippy enough. She gives the restaurant an A-. [LVRJ]
