Vegas Seven just underwent a design change online, so finding restaurant reviews just got a little harder. Max Jacobson heads to Las Cazuelas, a tiny, four-table Mexican joint on Eastern Avenue, serving what he calls, "Mexican fare you won't find anywhere else in the Valley: chanclas, pelonas, molletes and other Pueblan favorites, not to mention various tortas (sandwiches), tacos and sides."
Chef and owner Manuel Avendaño, who worked at Ventano for a decade, cooks up some of the best mole he's had. "You'll eat it here on shredded chicken enchiladas, and it's just about the most chocolate-rich mole I've ever tasted." Also of note, the frijoles, "the best bean dish I've had in many a moon."
For some reason, Al Mancini decided to review Desnudo Tacos, the new Mexican street food restaurant coming from Christopher Palmeri of Naked City Pizza Shop and Christian Dolias of Cutthroat Culinary long before it opened. True, you can get their food on Tuesday nights at the Naked City Pizza inside Moon Doggies, but really? [CityLife]
Back to handing out A grades is Heidi Knapp Rinella, who reviewed Gina's Bistro and gave it an A-. Of course she orders the special, because surely that will be on the menu again. Her coffee was burnt, but still worthy of a high grade. [LVRJ]
