It's a cupcake switcheroo over at the Monte Carlo. The MGM Grand's own sweet-focused creation Corner Cakes has taken over The Cupcakery space at the rear of the Monte Carlo. Located in the retail and food avenue known as The Street of Dreams, the outpost will be stocked by the Monte Carlo's pastry team in a style similar to the MGM Grand location.

While at MGM Grand sugar highs are available 24 hours a day, at the Monte Carlo the daily hours are currently 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The compact menu offers coffee for $3 and teas priced at $4. Single doughnuts are $2.75, it's $15 for six and $28 for a full dozen. Cupcakes cost $4 each, $21 for a half dozen and $40 for 12. CHOICES include tres leches, red velvet and their version of a "Croissant Donut."

The flexible dessert menu also includes brownies, cheddar muffins and mini pies like lemon meringue. And for those wishing to purchase a custom cake, a call to Corner Cakes will put you in contact with a baker who will talk you through the process of ordering and designing a unique cake, including Las Vegas themes.

The quick, unannounced takeover still leaves local company The Cupcakery with two operating stores in the city.
