Mr. Sandwich III at 4626 S. Maryland Pkwy. was shut down by the Southern Nevada Health District after a re-inspection on Jan. 28. SNHD originally inspected the restaurant on Jan. 15 and found 40 demerits, enough to bring it within one point of shut down.
During that initial inspection, SNHD found 40 demerits during their visit. Violations included staff not properly washing their hands, potentially hazardous foods stored at the improper temperature, food unprotected from potential contamination and more. On Jan. 28, inspectors gave the restaurant 23 demerits for unprotected food, misuse of single use items and more.
A routine inspection on Oct. 16 last year revealed 34 demerits, followed by an upgrade to eight demerits on Nov. 5.
The Southern Nevada Health District routinely shuts down restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits. Restaurants have the option of requesting a re-inspection before the next scheduled inspection.
