Guy Fieri plans to turn Laughlin into his next primetime, off the chain, flavor town sometime next year, but he still hasn't publicly dropped the name of his next joint on his legion of fans. It now looks like that has been settled behind the scenes.
As Eater Vegas has been updating, local blog Laughlin Buzz broke the news Fieri would be building his restaurant in the former Baja Blue space at the Harrah's Laughlin resort. A tipster told them the floated name was "Borracho Burro." Eater's further research revealed Fieri's own Knuckle Sandwich LLC had trademarked the name El Burro Borracho for future use as a restaurant. The goofy name, which can mean drunk donkey or drunk burro or drunk ass, was logical for the purveyor of a special "Donkey Sauce" condiment in all of his other restaurants.
However, the very latest construction paperwork firmly dumps the donkey, and gives the official name for Fieri's 4,915-square-foot restaurant as the more sedate Guy's Cantina. A perfect name for any future expansion plans, this Mexican themed prototype has already earmarked $500,000 in estimated construction costs. Work is scheduled for the kitchen, bar, main dining room and "enclosed patio."
A banner across the plywood promises Fieri and gang are for a "Winter 2014" debut, but recent, on scene, social media posts point to a lack of obvious progress at the location.
