Dong Ting Chun — the Chinese restaurant that serves stir-fried frog, steamed fish head casserole and chicken gizzards with pickled radish at 4850 W. Flamingo Road — came within one point of being shut down by the Southern Nevada Health District after a routine inspection on Oct. 28.
Violations included a lack of hand washing, food unprotected from potential contamination, ineffective pest control measures and inaccurate thermometers found during the 40 demerit inspection.
Three previous inspections dating back to 2012 resulted in an A grade.
The Southern Nevada Health District routinely shuts down restaurants that receive more than 40 demerits. Restaurants have the option of requesting a re-inspection before the next scheduled inspection.
