More information just dropped on Alex Stratta’s new Tapas by Alex Stratta, now said to be opening on Wednesday, Dec. 17 at Tivoli Village. Stratta, who also plans to open an Italian steakhouse at the Gramercy next spring, partnered with Preferred Restaurant Brands to create this menu of small plates, including daily baked artisan breads, Spanish cheese and cured meat selections, fresh seafood, organic meat, poultry and seasonal vegetables.

Some of the dishes teased so far include fried Padron peppers, artichoke flatbreads, caramelized cipollini, tuna belly, shrimp "al mojo de ajo," chorizo albondigas, oxtail and authentic Valenciana saffron rice. Spanish paellas in traditional and regional preparations also make the menu. Prices range from $6 to $23 while seasonal specials go for $24 to $45.

The bar plans to serve up sangrias, mocktails, bottled and tap Spanish artisan beers, wines by the glass, bottled wine and specialty coffee.

Tapas by Alex Stratta takes over the 2,700-square-foot Pizza Lounge space, seating 95 and 38 more on the patio. An exhibition kitchen with vintage ovens, crystal chandeliers and contemporary polished and faux finished floors round out the decor that plans to include “modern lines and silver, white and brown earth tones” highlighting “abstract and contemporary art.”

Szelina Kira Kiss, who worked at Tableau and Eastside Lounge & Lobby Bar at Wynn Las Vegas, comes on board as director of operations. Madalena Rodriguez of Tableau and Bally's Steakhouse will be the general manager.

Tapas by Alex Stratta plans to feature special menus for the Running of the Bulls and La Tomatina tomato throwing festival, as well as wine dinners with Spanish winemakers.

Already the restaurant plans to be open Mondays through Saturdays from 5 to 10 p.m. with happy hour from 4 to 6 p.m. and reverse happy hour from 9 to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tapas will also be open for Sunday brunch from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
