Open since 1968, but "lost her luster along the way," according to the current owners, the Boulevard Mall is pushing to make a comeback. A new design rendering points to the future direction of the 1,180,000-square-foot complex, now touted to add two new dining destinations right at the front door.
Sansone Companies bought the former "largest mall in southern Nevada" in 2014 for $54.5 million, estimating a phased $23 million to $25 million in upgrades were necessary. Already $1.5 million has been allocated to the current facade construction work being undertaken by Breslin Builders.
The "full-scale exterior renovation and expansion of the front entrance" will be anchored on both sides by casual dining restaurants, accented by "a cozy outside seating area for great people watching." The current non-food court dining dining options are Applebee's and IHOP located away from the main building in the parking lot.
Plans for a weekly farmer's market are still on the table, and the food court itself will also see an upgrade, adding big-screen TVs. Wi-Fi and new interior paint work have already been introduced. First phase completion is promised in 2015.
