Following news Chinatown's Pretty Girls Maid Cafe was readying to return as the Maid Cafe Wonderland — merging elements of anime, cosplay, Japanese pop culture and women dressed in French maid costumes — comes word the Anime Tea Host cafe is looking to arrive in 2015.
With a newly trademarked name, the project failed to raise enough funds from a Kickstarter campaign earlier this year that listed the future cafe at a 1,220-square-foot location in Spring Valley's Desert Breeze Plaza retail center.
Their current Facebook page enthusiastically maintains the project is still active and shows hosts who treat customers as Goshujin-sama and Ojou-sama (masters and mistresses) while wearing the highly stylized maid costumes.
Serving boba and traditional tea plus a menu of unspecified dishes, the concept wants to add anime show viewings, "live entertainment, gaming tournaments, and cosplay contests" and create an online gaming zone for players to interact with a tea host. No new location or completion timetable has been announced.
