John Wayne, Steve McQueen, Ann-Margret, Johnny Cash, James Taylor, and Paul Newman will all be dining with you when Yardbird Southern Table & Bar opens Dec. 30 at the Venetian. Rare black-and-white photos of film stars, musicians and icons from the 1940s through the '90s from cinematic photographer John R. Hamilton will decorate the walls. In all, 800 celebrities are part of the collection, and 75 photos will appear in Yardbird.
Hamilton shot these photos in studio back lots, on film sets and in concert venues for a behind-the-scenes view into the lives of these entertainers.
Throughout the restaurant, find five-inch by 7-inch snapshots and 18-inch by 24-inch prints. Diners can even bring home these souvenirs through the John R. Hamilton Archives.
Hamilton was a magazine photojournalist but became a special photographer on films. From the 1940s to the '90s, Hamilton worked on some 77 films, many of them epic Westerns. He’s often linked with director John Ford and actor John Wayne.
